EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS COMMISSION:

Notice of Unscheduled Vacancies - Emergency Preparedness Commission (PDF) 

The Mill Valley City Council is seeking to fill two unscheduled vacancies on the Emergency Preparedness Commission. One vacant term will run from the date of appointment to February 28, 2023. The other will run from the date of appointment to February 28, 2025. After fulfilling these vacancies, both applicants will be able to reapply for new three-year terms. Interested parties should contact the City Clerk’s Office (415) 388-4033 or email the City Clerk at cityclerk@cityofmillvalley.org for further information. Applications can be obtained through the application linked below (under the subsection "Apply!"). Applications should be returned to the City Clerk’s office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022. 

About the EPC: The Emergency Preparedness Commission (LINK) assists the City in preparing for, responding to, recovering from, and mitigating a disaster. The Commission’s duties include but are not limited to: identifying and organizing community groups, including residential neighborhood associations, schools, and businesses, promoting community emergency response training, creating and maintaining a doctors’ and nurses’ registry, educating residents on ways to be self-sufficient in a disaster; and providing recommendations to the City Council on preparedness matters. For these vacancies, the City is only recruiting for applicants that live within city limits (LINK) for this seven-member commission. All applicants should have a demonstrated interest and knowledge of emergency preparedness. The Emergency Preparedness Commission is an advisory Commission to the City Council and City staff with no decision or policymaking authority. Staff support of the Emergency Preparedness Commission is provided by the Fire Department and the City’s Fire Chief. Commission meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Upstairs Conference Room at City Hall, 26 Corte Madera Avenue, Mill Valley, CA.

BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE:

The Mill Valley City Council is also seeking to fill a vacancy on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC). The term will run from the date of appointment to February 28, 2024, where at that time the chosen applicant will be able to reapply for a new three-year term. Interested parties should contact the City Clerk’s Office (415) 388-4033 or email the City Clerk at cityclerk@cityofmillvalley.org for further information. Applications can be obtained through the application linked below (under the subsection "Apply!"). Applications should be returned to the City Clerk’s office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022. 

About the BPAC: The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) (LINK) reviews and provides recommendations to the City Council on updating the existing Mill Valley Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan, it provides recommendations for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure improvements, and it provides a venue for public input on matters related to bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs. Staff will accept applications from both City residents and County residents at this time. The BPAC is an advisory committee to the City Council and City staff with no decision or policy-making authority. Staff support is provided by the Department of Public Works and appointed by the Director of Public Works.
